Maryland Homeowners with auto insurance coverage

Home Insurance

Most homeowners in Maryland do not think about homeowners insurance until there's a reason to use it. Most of us just don't think a theft, fire, or accident will ever happen in our homes. Unfortunately, more likely than not, there will come a time when you experience one of those situations that will be covered by a homeowners insurance policy.

Types of Coverage

A homeowner’s insurance policy is a package policy that groups more than one kind of insurance coverage into a single comprehensive policy. The cost of the package policy is typically less expensive than if all of the individual coverages were purchased separately. There are four types of coverage found in a standard homeowner’s insurance policy:

Property damage coverage protects your home or belongings if damage or destruction results from certain causes of loss. Extreme weather situations like lightning, hail or tornado are included in those causes.

Liability coverage will pay if another person or another person's property is unintentionally injured or damaged by you.

Medical payments coverage will pay (up to a specified amount) for medical expenses of people injured from an accident in your home and certain situations away from your home, regardless of fault.

Additional living expenses coverage will pay for the additional expenses you incur if you cannot stay in your home due to damage or loss that is covered by your policy. For example, if you must move into a hotel or apartment while your home is being repaired, your insurance provider is responsible for covering the cost of that temporary housing.
